Line Dancing began at Happy Trails in 1988. In the beginning classes were held in the exercise room and were later moved to NC2 after the exercise room was outgrown.
The first classes were led by a couple from San Jose, California who taught the dances they had learned while there. At the time, no one else in the area was teaching country and western-style dancing. They taught weekly classes until 1991. Since then there have been numerous teachers performing all levels of line dancing in the resort.
Over the years the line dancers have enjoyed entertaining the residents of Happy Trails by performing in the talent shows, club skits, club fairs, and demonstrating dances during the Homecoming festivities, including marching and performing in the Homecoming parades - receiving numerous awards for their efforts.
Line Dancing is not only fun but a great form of exercise, not just for your body - but for your brain as well. Classes are held for Beginners and Easy Intermediate during the winter season. Class schedules are available from the Wall Rack in the Activities Office.
